Hello Jose,

I have finally read your interview in Face. As the easternmost distributor in America of Face, I should have read it ages ago. Very briefly I greatly enjoyed....I think I snickered a lot too.....in reading your interview. I agreed with so much of what you said that I almost quit the rock'n'roll business today. well not quite, however you observations are accurate and the harsh reality.

I just returned from Hempstock this weekend where my band The Laurie Jones Band www.lauriejones.org http://www.lauriejones.org did a set......Hey, if it is my band why isn't it called The Steve Peer Band?.......long story.

Anyway, it was a clear example of some "remarkable"....(I will use your word), musicians and no one really giving a shit.

I have no answer for this increasing level of apathy with music listeners....or non-listeners as they should really be called.

I have found the Portland scene to have gotten more dead in the past decade. I too have an indie label, Reversing Recordings with about 15 releases. Not many since I have been messing about since 1994, but I am a drummer first, and not much about the business.....another great point you made. Unfortunately, musicians have to be about the business first today, and that is not in the vocabulary of many creative types, Bowie and a few others being the exception. Anyway, I will keep track of your activity and hope that Portland...or Maine can one day produce an attention-getting band. Actually, I am sure that one, if not many exist, but is anybody listening? Our band has more fans and listeners in Halifax, Nova Scotia and London, England. Yes, we have hammered these two cities because we know and love them, but we would not be opposed to staying closer to home to make a living.

Keep me posted and if I can be of any assistance, just drop me a line. I would love nothing more than to be part of the next Nirvana and for Maine to be a music hotbed.
