12.18.04 - Back from Tour

Spouse returned from the band's second tour in support of the new record, "Are You Gonna Kiss or Wave Goodbye?". It was a successful trip playing in front of a bunch of new audiences. We had a great time and met a lot of great people. We also got a chance to catch up with some of our friends that we met this past August. Thanks to everyone who came out to support us, and a huge thanks to everyone who fed us, accommodated us, and helped pass the word around that we were coming to play a show. Cheers!

09.29.04 - ¡ Pega Luna Manny !

The BOSTON RED SOX are on their game. Joe Pernice has gone crazy and written a new song in honor of his favorite baseball player, Manny Ramírez. I spent part of last week helping him record the tune and I even made a little contribution to the composition. Mainly, I translated and sang, and he bought me a Red Sox ticket to the game at Fenway last Monday (the Sox lost 6-9 to the Orioles.) The song is finished. And it's being released, right about... now. You can download it at the Pernice Brothers' website and for a minimum donation of $1.00 to the First Night Boston cause, you can listen to the song over and over and over... The song is titled, "Moonshot Manny (Pega Luna)!" and it's a catchy bubbly, poppy, tune.

There will be a couple of articles about it in the Boston Herald and the Boston Globe, and I received word that the song has been passed along to the members of the Red Sox. And all the while, I've been trying to get the new Spouse record to the radio and press. I love listening to Baseball on radio, and I'll be keeping a close ear on the upcoming play-off games.

What I'd really love to do is write a song for Johnny Damon. He's my Red Sox fave...

09.14.04 - Face Magazine...

In the great state of Maine, there is a regional music magazine called FACE. I did an interview with them about the state of DIY Indie music business. The interview was published in August and you can read it here...

I received lots of good feedback about it and here are a couple of excerpts from emails that I received...

08.31.04 - Push, Push, Push...

I'm getting ready to do the radio push for Spouse III, "Are You Gonna Kiss or Wave Goodbye?". You can get an advance copy at Insound.com. The release date is 09.21.04. We'll be putting another tour together for late November, early December. In the meantime, there was a recent interview that I did with Face Magazine in Maine that shares my insight on the current state of Indie music, from a DIY perspective. If you're interested you can read it here...

Also, Sept. 12, important show to raise awareness and register voters for the upcoming election. The show is being organized by Chris Daltry of Purple Ivy Shadows and The 'Mericans. The concert will be an outdoor all day event in Providence, RI, right in downtown.

07.08.04 - Separation Anxiety on hold

I'm announcing today, that my follow-up to 2002's Cinco Pesos ep is on hold indefinitely. I'll try to get some mp3's up sooner rather than later, and maybe it'll become an internet exclusive. And I'll keep you posted as to when I can afford to finish the record. Sorry about that folks. If it makes you mad, email me and I'll send you a copy of the rough mixes that I did.

06.16.04 - Getting Political

SPOUSE will join the Pernice Brothers and New Radiant Storm King on July 27 to benefit John Kerry's Presidential campaign.

06.02.04 - Compilation Vinyl - Portland, Maine

One of the songs from my forthcoming, SEPERATION ANXIETY album is being released on 12" vinyl! Courtesy of a new media group from Portland, Maine called Angioplasty Media. Don't ask me what the name means, as I don't know, but go check it out. I think you can preorder yourself a copy and save $3.00.

06.01.04 - June is upon me

I'm making some important decisions about things these days. One of those decisions is to start a blog. I've been resisting, because like most things, I start more than I can sometimes finish.

So, off to the left there's a new section: BLOG.

But if you see me out, no talking about the blog. I'm such a bad control freak. Okay. over and out.

05.27.04 - SPOUSE on tour, finally...

This August, Spouse will finally be hitting the road to go play some shows out towards Chicago and back. I'm busily trying to book some dates and thus far have but a few gaps to fill. We'll get to play with Frances Gumm in St. Paul, MN on August 7th and I'm looking forward to it very excitedly. We're also going to try to play a really wonderful venue called Vaudeville Mews earlier that week in Des Moines, IA. Ofcourse, we're still trying to figure out the van-situation, because my Jeep just won't be big enough. :(

I'll keep you all posted with updated tour info - August 1-14, 2004

It will be our first tour in support of the next SPOUSE record, "Are You Gonna Kiss or Wave Goodbye?"

02.01.04 - SPOUSE...2004

Expect to see José Ayerve performing with his group SPOUSE. The new and current line-up of SPOUSE includes Mark Schwaber, Ken Maiuri, JJ O'Connell, and Don McAulay. Expect to see more of this quintet in the near future. Fans of the old guard SPOUSE members need not worry. They'll be appearing here and there, whenever they can. The next full-length will appear later this year.

11.25.03 - Separation Anxiety

The follow-up to 2002's Cinco Pesos ep is titled Separation Anxiety. It contains 11 new recordings, the bulk of which were recorded in West Hurley, NY at the home of Ruth Ungar and Michael Merenda. Guest musicians include: JJ O'Connell, Michael Merenda, Don McAulay, Mark Schwaber, and Anne Viebig. The record is a mix of upbeat, loopy, pop songs, amoungst somber, phantasmic, and hollow reflections of loss, and ofcourse, the weight of separation. It will be available on CD in early 2004. Stay tuned for more details.

11.24.03 - Update of events

The Greetings from Area Code 207, vol. 4 CD is out now! It contains a couple of Ayerve contributions: SPOUSE - Feather Boa, and BullyClub - Hello, both of which were recorded by Ayerve and SPOUSE.

10.15.03 - Recording in Upstate New York

Beginning this Friday, I will be holing myself up in West Hurley, NY, at the Humble Abode; the home of Ruth Ungar and Michael Merenda Jr. of the uber-impressive folk supergroup, the Mammals (www.themammals.net). I'll be hard-at-work recording some songs that have been occupying my creative space for far too long. Hopefully, all of this work will see the light of day sometime in 2004. I promise more details soon.
